Biography
Iain Stanton
I am a British photographer with a specialisation in architectural photography, capturing the dynamic visual echoes that resonate from the spaces I photograph.
Growing up in the historic Georgian city of Bath, England, I was surrounded by heritage architecture that sparked my interest in photography. At the young age of 10, I began developing photographic negatives in the school darkroom, witnessing the images come to life like magic, igniting a lifelong passion for both photography and architecture.
After pursuing further academic studies in Photography, I embarked on my career as a staff photographer's assistant for a local newspaper, where I documented local news and honed my skills in print development.
Following my heart, I moved to London. My career then took me to the Netherlands, Japan, and Hong Kong, where a serendipitous encounter with the renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam inspired me to delve into the world of architecture.
In 2000, I completed my architectural studies at Southbank University in London, merging my expertise in photography with a profound new understanding of architectural design.
With over two decades of experience working as an architect and a photographer, I bring a unique perspective to my craft.
My background in architecture allows me to communicate architectural intent effectively, showcase technical expertise, and employ creative problem-solving skills, all of which contribute to the creation of high-quality architectural photographs that capture the essence and dynamism of spaces.
